Installing an SSL Certificate on a WordPress Website

This video will show you how to install an SSL Certificate on a WordPress Website so that your site shows as https secure rather than http unsecure.

Here are the individual steps shown in the video:

  1. Buy an SSL Certificate at Namecheap or similar.
  2. Go to cpanel of website > SSL/TLS > Generate Certificate Signing Request
  3. Copy Encoded Cert Signing Request (including the —Begin etc)
  4. In Namecheap (or where you bought the SSL) > Account > Product List.  Find new SSL > Activate
  5. In Enter CSR, paste the copied cert > Next > Choose cpanel > Choose DCV method > email  [***DON’T CLICK NEXT***]
  6. Back to cpanel Email Forwarders > Set up forwarder (if needed) to forward to your normal email)
  7. Back in Namecheap, choose email address just set up, click Next > Next > Review & Submit
  8. Wait for validation email. Click link and paste code in email.
  9. Wait for certificate email > Copy cert code
  10. Back to cpanel > SSL/TLS > Install and Manage SSL > Select domain > Paste code > Click Autofill by Cert > Install Cert
  11. Login to WordPress > Plugins > Add New > Find and install Really Simple SSL plugin > Activate

All done! 🙂
