Talk Forever: How to Never Run Out of Things to Say

What happens when you’re in a conversation and there’s that awkward silence. You’ve RUN OUT of things to say now neither of you are talking? Happens at work, on a date, in an interview or small talk at check out line – here is how to NEVER run out of things to say.

Clark back from refusingtosettle.com – talk about communication mini series. I studied comm in college / did over 100 on air interviews with experts / +400 videos / dozens of public speaking. Sharing best tips – today on communication: how to keep your conversation going!

Problem with most people, view conversation as one road – moving forward. If it stops moving forward it ends! Not the case. Most conversations are like arterial road with dozens of intersections sprinkled throughout. Recognize these intersections, have endless routes to take conversation and keep it going forever (or until you have to take a piss).

JUMP OFF POINTS:
Like intersections with different roads to take – you can select which ever route you want to steer the conversation.

EXAMPLE: “I don’t really like Seattle, it’s getting too crowded and I feel like all the tech workers are taking over.”

JUMP OFF POINTS:
Seattle – where would live elsewhere?
Too crowded – don’t like lots of people?
Tech workers – you don’t work in tech

EXAMPLE: “I work at the local hospital. It’s alright, but I’m ready for a change”
JO: Hospital – What do you do? – Why don’t she like it? – What would you change to?

EXAMPLE: “I just got back from New Zealand and I’m readjusting to the Seattle time zone”
JO: NZ – When you get back? – How was it? – From Seattle? – Time Zones suck (study)

EXAMPLE: “We just got back from the music festival in Austin.”JO: We? – What music? – Been before? – How long? – Time I went to Austin – Story about Austin

EXAMPLE: “I’ve been trying to eat healthier. Doing less sugar exercising more”
JO: Why want to be healthier? – Less sugar? – What kind of exercise? – Goals? – Time I tried
