How Gary Vaynerchuk Would Market a Film

Know how to sell a product? Sell it for 9 months BEFORE it comes out. As you’re making it, you’re storytelling around it.

How to Market a Movie?

If I’m marketing a film or movie marketing, I’m making animated gifs every day on tumblr around your film. The stuff that you may even be editing out I would be using to be marketing the movie and storytell on these social platforms daily. Just giving out free content, showing them sneak previews of the film. I would be doing Spreecast, Ustream or Google hangout with the actors, doctors or whoever you are filming with, months before the move even comes out.

Do you know how to sell a book? Start selling your book nine months before it comes out and then it actually sells! It’s not okay to think “my book is out, now it’s time to sell”: the game is over, you won’t have enough time! So same thing with a movie. The future of movie marketing is as you’re filming you’re storytelling on these platforms and then when the film comes out you’ve actually built a community and then you come out and say buy the tickets.
